When Lisa reached out to me I was so excited. Ken and Lisa planned to fly here from LA and get married at one of the overlooks on the New River Gorge. When it got close to the date Lisa had a tough time finding an overlook that wasn’t booked or even open that day. We came up with the idea of hiking the Beauty Mountain for photos, then having a ceremony on Station Bridge. It was going to be a lot to pull off in just a couple of hours but we knew it was going to be fun!!!!
We started the day with a hike to Beauty Mountain Overlook. Ken and Lisa wore regular clothes for the hike and then changed when we got to the overlook.
We had an awesome time taking photos then headed back for the ceremony.
You can’t have an epic WV wedding without Pastor Todd A. Gray. I’ve had the opportunity to photograph countless weddings with Todd and I always look forward to it. He does an incredible job and has a calmness about him that I very much admire. He is seriously the best wedding officiant!!
Todd had to stop the ceremony several times as cars passed, which added to the experience. It was a lot of fun!!
I loved this wedding so much! It’s not everyday that my couples fly from LA, jump in the car with me then hike to Beauty Mountain, and then get dressed in their wedding attire. And THEN hike back and have a wedding ceremony on Station Bridge with the New River Gorge Bridge in the background, all while cars go by. (Imagine me as Frogger) Oh and to top it off, Ken just so happens to be an INSANELY talented long exposure/light painting photographer who’s been featured in National Geographic. And they picked me as their wedding photographer this past fall, I was like whattt.
I can’t wait for my next New River Gorge wedding! I love this life <3
